RACE TRAINING

with
Ray Scraggs

(Upper Thames YC)

and Simon Dabson (GWCS)

A great chance to learn how important good tuning is, and what a difference it can make to performance.

1. Ian Williamson reaches for the sky to check his Spreaders (20¼ ")

2. Douglas Butler checks his Mast Rake measurement (23ft 6"), the top end of the tape (at the top of the mast) must be 19' 3" above the top of the Goose-neck black band, which must be 707mm ± 3mm above the mast pin. Got it?

3. John Lamont checks his Rig Tension (307 lb)
under careful instruction from Ray Scraggs

2003 WEDNESDAY SERIES
TRIUMPH FOR WAYFARERS

The 2003 Wednesday Evening Slow Handicap series has ended with a spectacular 1-2 position for this Wayfarer Fleet. This is the first time the Wayfarers have ever had the 1-2 spot, and a fantastic achievement.

Wednesday evening has all the action!

A sudden thunderstorm hit Grafham timed nicely at 7pm on Wednesday 16th July. Lightening was striking in all directions around the lake, and the almost constant thunder, a force 6+, and torrential rain made the starting signals quite superfluous!! Well, there's always the buckets ...

Yes, of course the show went on, and although everyone finished it is rumored that not everyone stayed in their boat for all the race ....
